All of life and life’s circumstances are miraculous. We should not be surprised when life works out in an amazing way. Everything about life is amazing. We are so immersed in life that we cannot see how miraculous it is. We think all things are ordinary or random because we see them as ordinary or random. Think of someone from Jesus’ day transported to today. Our houses, cars, TVs, computers, planes, phones, watches and even our republic would all appear to be miraculous. They are. The fact that we don’t see them as miraculous doesn’t change the miraculous nature of all these things. 

We live in a fallen world. A world that is very good at creating illusions that obscure the miraculous progress made over the centuries. You may ask, as many have, how can I say everything is miraculous when bad things happen? I do wish I knew the answer. All I can say is that is the way the world is designed. We only learn through struggle and adversity. Perhaps an adversary was intentionally created to temper us like steel in a furnace. Whatever the reason, there are two forces actively working in our world. One we call the left and one we call the right. The left creates illusions designed to thwart the right. The right struggles but plods forward. The struggle between the left and the right will end one day. We do not know when, but until then the course of human history will, as Martin Luther King Jr. noted, continue to bend to the right.
